When I got the SK9Y one of the first things I did was connect it to WiFi via the LG WiFi speaker app and updated the firmware. The extra settings you get using the app to control the soundbar are great! A couple of days later my Asus router failed and I replaced it with a Google WiFi unit. Last night I went to mess with the settings on my soundbar using the app and saw it wasn't connected to WiFi anymore, so I attempted to reconnect via the app to no avail. It finds the soundbar via Bluetooth initially, but when I go to the next screen to have it connect to my WiFi it immediately returns with "connection failed". It doesn't even seem to try to connect. I spent a couple of hours troubleshooting this issue by doing the following:
  • Power-cycled sound bar
  • Reset sound bar by holding the WiFi button 5+ seconds until you hear the chime
  • Unplugged soundbar from power for about 30-40 seconds
  • Reinstalled the app on my Android device (have not tried from an iPhone, I will do that tonight)
  • Tried connecting the soundbar to another WiFi source (Enabled AT&T router WiFi)
  • Power-cycled the Google WiFi router
  • Hardwired the sound bar. I was then able to access it on the app and did a settings reset, then disconnected the hardwire and attempted to connect to WiFi again through the app to no avail (hardwiring is not solution for me as hardwiring it makes it go to my ATT router, which is a different IP Subnet than my Google WiFi, and makes it undetected unless I enable WiFi on my ATT router and my phone to it connect to it, which is not an option as I only want to use Google WiFi)
None of the above troubleshooting steps worked and I'm at a loss for what I can try next, any ideas? Is there a way to factory reset the soundbar to go back to the original firmware? I know WiFi connectivity worked with the original firmware, as it was a piece of cake to connect. Could it be a firmware issue or a problem with the app?

    Update: Appears to be an issue with the app on Android devices. I tried this again using an iPhone and it worked perfectly. LG please update the Android app!

    As I am having the same exact problem with the App and its the 27th of November 2018, I am not sure, if LG has actually worked on the problem...
    I got the soundbar yesterday and I almost went crazy. I live here in Germany and in the Google-App-Store the App has 2 out of 5 stars. The comments tell the same story. I don´t really know where the problem lies, but LG has to work on service quality.
    I´m using a Huawei Mate 10 Pro with the Android 8.0.0 Version. I can´t update the soundbar.

    My Soundbar also suddenly regulates the volume to minimum in the middle of a show/movie, or game. Happens pretty often and you always miss a few seconds of whatever you´re watching until you grab the remote and turn up the volume again. Happend the past two days since I have the soundbar. I think that an update could probably fix this issue. But as the app doesn´t work...

    Anybody else has the same issue up to this date?
    I would appreciate a reply by LG.

    It is not just the Android app. I am experiencing the exact same issue on my iPhone.  When I first set up the sound bar it connected just fine and I was using the app.  Then all of a sudden a few days ago, it stopped showing up.  I tried reconnecting and it shows up as a found speaker (I can even play the little chime sound), but then it won't connect to the wifi network and says there are no nearby speakers.  I have tried all the above steps, with resetting, and unplugging.  Please help.

    I had the same problem, brought this soundbar in November 2018 all worked fine and connected to wifi no problems, moved house at the end of December 2018 plugged in soundbar and won't connect to wifi, have tried everything, anyone sorted this or have an idea how to get it to connect?

    Yup. Same here. My phone is a 1+5T with Android Pie (January 2019 build). Nothing seems to get my soundbar to register for WiFi. All I want to do is play with it as I just bought it today. Thankfully I bought from Costco and can return in 10 years if I want. BAH!!! I'll try wired but it's a no-go for more than a day in my house as it would be a free wire hanging in front of my fireplace (not cool with a "wireless" device).

    Hi don't know if this is a fix for anyone else but i went and bought some WiFi extenders for my home today so we had good connections upstairs, i tried to see if my soundbar would connect to my network thru the range extender and to my surprise it did :):) lol don't know how this makes a difference but did for me, can now stream spotify and use the LG app as before with no problems. https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing-accessories/networking/wifi-range-extenders/tp-link-re200-wifi-range-extender-ac-750-dual-band-10024654-pdt.html link to wot i used.

    I can't get mine to connect to wifi either. Connection availability or speed isn't a problem at all.

    I'm also having this issue. The app cannot even find my speaker. I'm getting extremely close to returning this product.

    Dear LG. I paid a lot of money for this product and I can't get it to connect to my WiFi. What's the sense of purchasing a speaker that says works with Google and it can't connect to the internet

    Purchased an SK8 only yesterday, downloaded the app, all fine and connected to Wi-fi... only today, the app doesn’t even find the soundbar. How frustrating, even more so as this seems a generic issue. Refund time?

    Press and hold the wifi button ontop of speaker for 10 seconds should come up as reset then enter ssid and wifi password

    Resetting from wifi button does not work. App will find sound bar, but when I put in wifi password and press next, it says there is no sound bar connected.

    I had the same problem. I put phone in airplane mode then took it off and reset the speaker. Et Viola! Works beautiful
