Please give us the option to disable the display port deep sleep. Whenever my monitors goes to sleep as set by windows, the 27GN950 disconnects and shifts all my opened windows to the other screen. I have tried evrything, updating firmwares, drivers, testing on different computers and graphics cards and it still does it. For a $800+ monitor it sohuld have this feature. This is really frustrating! I have dual 27GL83A monitors that never had this issue. My 27GN950 paired with a 27GL83A has this issue. Computer set to never sleep and screen turns off in 5 minutes. It does it but when I wake it all my opened windows on the GN950 shifts to my other monitor. Its frustrating paying for an $800+ monitor and it does not have Disable Deep Sleep option. Wake up LG and put this feature on your monitor via firmware update. My old monitor ACER predator had Disable Deep Sleep option. FIX THIS!

    Hi,

Similar problem here with a single monitor setup with a LG 27GN950. When the monitor sleeps, it never wakes up and the OSD is not responsive (I cannot access any command), only solution is to remove powe cable and put it back.

With another Dell monitor, no issue.

Please allow to disable display port sleep mode in OSD.

    Thanks

I have this same problem on MacOS, but I plan to use this monitor on Windows as well. I have to press the settings menu button on the bottom of the monitor for it to awake again and all my applications are thrown off and pushed over to my iMac's primary display. Please provide a firmware update to disable this deep sleep thing.

I have the identical problem on the same 27GN950 model.

The monitor enters displayport sleep mode with no way to disable this.

I can confirm all Windows10 monitor and power sleep settings have been turned off.

Super frustrating and several Reddit users on r/monitors also reporting identical issue.

Is there a firmware update due soon to fix this?

I have this exact same problem on an LG 27GL83A-B

When I leave the PC idle or when I lock Windows, the screens go to sleep, as usual. Nothing special happens. But when I come back and the monitors wake up, the LG 27GL83A-B disconnects and reconnects immediately, causing all my windows to be rearranged and squished on a single monitor. I also tested this on Linux Manjaro and the same problem occurs.

The monitor is connected with DisplayPort.

    I have tested:

    • A clean Windows 10 install with latest Radeon driver install
    • A clean Linux Manjaro install
    • Changing my secondary screen
    • Tried using just the LG 27GL83A-B as single monitor
    • Motherboard BIOS update
    • Monitor driver install
    • Changing the color depth
    • Disabling Freesync
    • Disabling all power saving settings on the monitor
    • Changing the monitor DisplayPort mode from 1.4 to 1.2
    • Fiddling with multiple Windows registry configurations some people said might help

Nothing helped. From my research it seems it might be related with DisplayPort's Deep Sleep feature. Some monitors have the option to disable it, but mine doesn't. Another weird symptom I found is that the monitor wakes up exactly 120 seconds after going to sleep, showing a black screen, and then goes back to sleep again. This might be the moment when the monitor goes into Deep Sleep mode. The problem does not occur if I wake the monitor up before these 120 seconds pass. This is always consistent.

Another way to consistently reproduce this issue is to turn the monitor off on the button, where nothing special happens, as the monitor continues to be detected by Windows. But when you turn the monitor back ON, this disconnect/reconnect event happens and Windows detects this, rearranging the whole desktop again.

Aside from just rearranging the Windows, which is already a very bad issue, this causes other problems, such as crashes when using Virtual Machines and certain 3D software.

The strange thing is this only happens on my Radeon RX 6800 card. I tested my monitor on a GeForce RTX 2060 and a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and the monitor works correctly. BUT I have tested 4 other monitor models on my RX 6800 card and none of them exhibits this problem, so I have no idea if this is an AMD or LG problem, but they should work together to fix it. If it is related to deep sleep, then a toggle on the monitor's OSD would be ideal.

I have also posted this on the AMD community forums here:

34GK950F-B has the same issue, so it seems most of LG monitors are affected.

We are complaining about the issue for months now, but LG does nothing.

I second this. LG needs to release a firmware update for all monitors that lack this feature.

i paid 800$ for the ultra gear 4K 144hz monitor and I have to turn it on manually every time I wake my computer from sleep. What year is this? 2005?

I have the same sleep issue. returned my 27gn950 to LG for repair. They replaced the motherboard, and it did not fix the problem. This took 2 months. Then they sent an LG expert to my house. He made sure all setting on my PC and on the monitor were up to date and correct. His conclusion was that indeed the monitor does not work properly and that it was likely a software problem. He recommended to LG that I get a refund. Today I heard from LG and they said the refund is denied and claim that the problem is a set up issue. They said if I plug the monitor into another PC it would work.......and so its not a problem with their monitor.

What's missing is a company with proper customer focus. Open sharing of their position and doing what it right for their customers. Some companies have that culture and some do not. Having that customer focus is a key component for great companies.

does LG even watch these threads? Who do we need to beg in order to have the DisplayPort deep sleep toggle added as a firmware update? This monitor is nearly 1,000$ and they can’t add a basic feature that all monitors should have?

ridiculous. Would I recommend LG Monitors to anyone? Nope. I’m a detractor now. Talk about NPS.

No reply from LG since January. So promising. Time to take this to Reddit and social media then boys and girls?

I will never buy an LG monitor again. Even if it is the best monitor on market. LG customer support is a joke. And a bad one.

I have zero idea how a company can sell monitors this pricey and have zero support for them. These are capable of firmware upgrades and these need them badly. This is a simple enough fix to allow for the ability to disable deep sleep. This isn't making an entirely new product. What the heck are you doing, LG?

27gn950. Yep, the sleep problem. I went around and around with LG on this. Sent it for repairs, two months later I got it back and it was not fixed. Then they sent a tech to my house. He verified the software and setting on the monitor and pc were correct and the monitor would not work correctly. In his report he recommended that LG give me my money back. They refused twice. They were willing to send it in for repair again. They don't seem to get that its a software problem, not a hardware problem. Their customer support people have no memos concerning anything wrong with this monitor. My sense is that a software fix is not coming anytime soon or perhaps never.

So, some good news. This is for Windows 10 (64). When you first plug your monitor into your pc and go to the LG website and download their software for it, two apps will be put in your boot start list. Open Task Manager and click on the Startup tab. In the Publisher column, look for LG Electronics Inc. Click on each of the two programs and disable them, then reboot. This fixed my sleep problem. I dont know what those apps do, but nothing is missing or strange or wrong when using the monitor. I also dont know if you could disable just one of them and have it fix the problem. I just disabled both and everything works as it should.

Using rtx 3080, amd 5900 cpu.

    image.png

    i downloaded these

    image.png

after i downloaded them i ran the setup.exe and updated the drivers even tho they were up to date. rebooted pc and tested the issue with the windows all rearranging and going to my main monitor. id have windows open on both monitors and after i let the screen go to sleep they all go back to the default main monitor. ive tested with HDMI and DP cables both combinations. not sure how u made it work but it didn't work for me. sad pepe
