Hello,

I've attached some images to show the type of ice maker and what it's doing.

Water flows into the tray correctly. It does not overfill. The water freezes and the ice cubes are the right size.

The problem comes when the tray turns upside down and it presses the corner of the tray against the side of the frame to twist it. This motion is supposed to cause the ice cubes to pop out of the tray and fall into the basin. They don't. They stick in the tray. So what ends up happening is the tray turns back over - right side up - and because it still has ice cubes in it, the water fills just a tiny bit more, the sensor cuts off the water, but there's a thin layer of water on top of the cubes that didn't drop. That freezes and now it turns into one solid block of ice.

How do I get the ice cubes to drop out of the tray when it turns upside down? I've attached a few photos. One of them has a red circle where the tray presses against the frame to twist the tray to get the cubes to pop out. Ive also included a photo of the large blocks that eventually do drop but they are several cubes connected that wont fit through the dispenser to the outside.

The ice you see in the basin of these photos are either the large blocks of connected cubes or its ice from store-bought bags of ice that we poured in there so we can use the dispenser on the outside of the freezer and don't have to open the freezer to get ice out of a bag.

Also, I need help or instructions on how to take the ice tray out so I can clean it. I don't want to take out the whole ice maker if I can help it. I just want to remove the tray and give it a good scrub.

I talked to a local appliance repair shop and they said sometimes the ice trays have a heater that turns on to help the ice cubes pop out of the tray. Does this model have a heater for the ice tray? I don't see anything in the manual about a heater but I thought I would ask.

I know the sensor that turns off the water is working because the water fills to the correct level when it has no ice in it.

Long story short: I just need some help troubleshooting why the ice cubes aren't popping out of the tray when it turns over.

This model wpould not have a heater. However, service would be required for this to be diagnosed properly. Please send us a private message at https://lgcommunity.us.com/messages/add for further assistance.
