One day, the LG fridge stopped cooling/freezing. I had to throw out $200 to $300 worth of food. I contacted LG, they connected me to local LG certified folks, and also had a specialist contact me, promising to help cover the cost of the fix. (That specialist has disappeared off the face of the earth.) The technician came, added freon, charged me $295, said to wait a few days, I did, it was back to cooling/freezing, so today I bought $400 worth of food to fill the fridge back up. It's not as cold as I'd like, so I'm concerned, but I just filled it back up, so I'll give it time. BUT...Now the electronic panel is making all sorts of crazy noises. If this food has to go, we're talking almost $1000 spent, total, via wasted food and freon + labor. How much does a new fridge cost?

bronxbeatdown, I see you commented previously about problems with the unit not cooling properly and you fearing you would lose over $400 in food and have to pay another $600 for the repair.

LG is providing warranty labor coverage up to 5 yrs., from the date of purchase, for sealed system issues on refrigerators. If you still need a repair, please call our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 where any agent will provide you with 5 year coverage for parts and labor on the sealed system. Or you can visit this link: {https://refrigerators.lgsupport.com/hc/en-us/requests/new }, and provide the needed info and we will reply within 24 business hrs.

I have had a terrible experience with LG Customer Support.  My fridge stopped cooling/freezing; and, as previously stated, I was referred to an LG certified repair shop in my area.  The repairman was polite, respectful and knowledgeable. I was told by the 1st Customer Care agent that the warranty on the Sealed System was 7 years and my warranty was 2 weeks from expiring.  I was also told that if I could provide proof of purchase that they would offer me a one-time courtesy extension so that the labor would be covered as well.  I was told that after receiving the proof of purchase, I would be contacted within 72 hours of receipt.  3 days later.... nothing.  I called again; this time I was told that what I submitted was incomplete (which it was) and I would need to resubmit; which I did.  This time the customer service agent stayed on the phone with me to verify that what I submitted was acceptable; which it was.  She asked me a few questions about my unit and stated that everything that was needed for the extension request was complete.  I was told to wait another 3 days and I would hear back.  3 days later; nothing.  I called again.  The customer service agent said that the request was incomplete because there were some questions that need I needed to answer to give more information.  I complained that this was the 3rd time that I had provided all information and asked to speak to someone higher on the food chain.  I was on hold for an hour before someone answered my call.  The gentlemen was very polite and understanding; asked me if I could submit the invoice of the repair {Yes, by this time the refrigerator was repaired and working}; which I did and this agent said that he had everything necessary for the request and that he would personally call me back by the end of the day.  No call came.  I called back the next day.  Customer service agent said that my request had just been submitted prior to my 4th call and that I would have to wait another 3 days.  I said that was unacceptable and asked to speak to someone higher on the food chain.  After 30 minutes on hold; someone took my call.  This lady was not in a good mood.  I explained the entire process that I had gone through for the past 10 days and she said that my request had been denied.  Just like that.  I complained; and asked to speak to someone higher than her.  She told me that I had reached the top and there was no one above her to hear my complaint.  Befuddled, I asked if there was anyone one or department at corporate that I could contact and was once again told that I had reached the apex of the Customer Service department.  I finally; after ranting for several minutes, relented and promised to do all that I could to share my terrible experience with them.  So here I am.  Now, to be honest; I'm not ticked off THAT much that the request was denied.  What chaps me is that I had to do the ole' run-around for 10 days before they would tell me that it was going to be denied.  I was made promise after promise which were all broken.  Terrible experience and I wold recommend to anyone to not purchase an LG product again.  Just not worth the hassle.
