My on-screen control panel says no monitor connected or turn off the mirroring.  I am using an older Dell 5558 laptop which has the right graphics card. The monitor works great and the joystick controls work fine, but I am unable to use all the tools able to me on the on-control panel.  ?

When I had this issue, it was due to both the laptop internal screen being on, and the external monitor being on.  In order to activate the OnScreen control panel, the internal screen must be turned off.  Press Windows-P, when the options along the right side of screen come up, make sure that Second Screen only is selected.  After a few seconds, OnScreen will detect that the LG monitor is the only enabled monitor and will dynamically enable itself and start to provide all options to you.  Hope this is your issue and gets you working.
