I'm having difficulty in removing the plastic rear cover. Despite removing all the screws and pressing on the button in the centre of the base it won't budge. Any advice? I'm hoping to clean and reposition the wifi connectors as described by others here.
LG service engineer visited my home to check the problem. He opened the back panel. Then he cleaned up some of the connectors. He said these gradually rust over time and cause problem in connection. This solved the problem and TV is working fine now.
TL;DR - Followed the advice of Gifted1986 on page 7 and page 9. It works!
My LG TV 49UJ6300 had started showing WiFi troubles about a month ago (= 17 months after purchase of the TV). The signal used to get dropped suddenly. The issue worsened over next few days, and it stopped connecting to WiFi altogether. It would show the message 'WiFi is turned off' in Network Settings, without any button to turn it back on. I purchased an ethernet cable, which worked for a few days. Then it started dropping connection every 2-5 minutes. It became unwatchable!
I combed through many YouTube videos, forums, and followed following "tricks". These did NOT work: - Normal troubleshooting viz. router reset, TV re-start, TV re-start using power button long press - Disabled quick start - Reset to initial settings, several times - Change location and reset - Firmware update with latest driver from LG website
Today, I got to know after calling LG customer support that my TV is out of warranty, and I will have to call expensive service center folks to get it repaired. That inspired me to follow Gifted1986's advice. TBH, I was afraid to open the back panel of the TV and fiddle with the wiring. As expected, I did notice a crimp in the ribbon connector to the WiFi module. I straightened it with my fingers and put everything back together. I turned on the TV, and voila! It has not dropped WiFi signal since.
Next, I made an account here to add my comment. I had given up any hope. If you are like me, these steps might save you! Good luck.
I thought a couple months ago when I gave up on the WiFi and drilled a whole through my wall to run Ethernet connection directly to tv that my issues would be done. Now I had been getting the same Unknown device disconnect message as well as LAN disconnected. So I finally decided to try open up my tv like was suggested by others and found the wire from the WiFi module was crimped pretty bad in several locations, I smoothed it out wiggled the module a bit and the so far today my WiFi is back and my LAN is working fine. Let’s see how long it lasts.
Just encountered this issue first time last night with our 1.5 year-old OLED65B7A. WiFi disconnected and magic remote became not so "magic" (sluggish, not able to use pointer). Called customer support and they took me through their typical "reset everything" routine, eventually telling me that I need to take to authorized service center. After taking a break from the TV for a few minutes and coming back, it started working again on it's own. Based on responses here, I don't expect this goodness to last....
I have a UJ7700 with same problem. I went with GIFTED1986 advice and took off the back panel to straighten WIFi wires. It worked!! EVERYONE...try Gifted1986’s steps on page 7 and/or 9 of this forum.
I purchased the LG 49UH850Y TV model about 1.5 years ago. I am from Israel and having the same problem with WIFI - the TV is getting disconnected and does not see the WIFI network. I tried all the options described in this forum, but it did not help. Several days I upgraded the firmware to 5.30.60 - but this did not solve the issue. I see this is an international problem!!! LG where are you ?
It's been six weeks since I reseated the connections to the wireless module... and it looks like the problems are starting up again. I was hoping the "fix" would last longer than that. 8^( Guess I'll try the replacement wireless module I bought next time I have the TV apart.
My 3 year old 55UH850V was suffering the same WiFi issues, took the back off and the lead going to the WiFi module was not fully home. Removed and replaced and all is fixed.
Just signed up as found this discussion board when searching for LG TV network issue. I am having the same WiFi issue ass lots of folk on here. I only bought the TV a couple of months ago. Is there any Rep on here giving a simple , proper solution to his issue. Should i be able to get my TV replaced as i only have it with 3/4 months?
After reading 12 pages of this forum and being as mad as all the rest of the reviewers with no luck from resetting, I decided to take off the back panel of my 55 UJ6300 LG TV and look at the ribbon connected to my WiFi bracket. It was crimped just as he suggested. I straightened the ribbon out and removed all the crimping. Put the panel on (thankfully with all the original tiny screws) and my WiFi works perfectly. Simple fix and glad to have this TV for just over a year now with no issues except for this, which was completed with research in under two hours. Only took 15 minutes to remove panel, straighten ribbon, and return panel.
I’ve had this LG for three years and had no problem til recently. The first time I left it alone for five minutes and tried it again, it had fixed itself. Tonight I came in to the same thing, no option to turn WiFi on so I went to the previous option, ‘wired connection’ & hit ‘connect’, I have no Ethernet connection. I went back into the ‘WiFi connection’ and the ‘WiFi on’ had appeared again. I’m guessing that asking it to try a different connection has released something that was blocking the WiFi connection, akin to my iPhone when I sometimes have to reset the network settings. It’s fine now though I will follow the work through on page 7 if it doesn’t solve the issue long term. I have to say this is my second LG and I’ve not had any problems in the ten years I’ve been a customer.
The easiest solution, which is what I am ultimately going to do is say goodbye to the WebOS apps and use a Roku. I already had a Roku Premiere+ (with ethernet port). I had been using a wired connection on my TV till it started to get flakey. Transfering the ethernet cable to my Roku, I decided to try wifi again but it seems to be totally non functioning. I think it all boils down to "you get what you pay for". You buy a cheap TV, you get cheap components.
Hello team. I am a LG Smart TV user from Bangalore, India. From the past 1 week, everyday I have to reset TV in order to connect to wifi. And this issue started from 4 months before. I don't think LG is taking its customers seriously. Now, this issue is getting on my nerves. Is there an ETA when this would be fixed ?LG does not mean Life's Good anymore. It is becoming hell day by day.
Just want to add that the instructions from @Gifted1986 (page 7) worked perfectly. I have a different model TV so internals slightly different, but took the back off smoothed out all the hard folds in the wifi cable (at one point it was folded back on itself 3 times to shorten the length) and put it all back together. Not a single issue with wifi for 2 months now. Before would last an hour at best after a full reset. If your TV s out of warranty, can recommend this. It might even be as mentioned on later comments, that this is a connection issue and the simple fact of disconnecting and reconnecting the wifi module to fix the cable solved it...
It would appear that LG is now aware that the problem (in many cases) is a simple connection issue that does not require parts replacement. This is taken from a thread on the CNET forums:
"I also called LG. In my case, there was not even need for changing any part. The person came and opened the TV. The problem was, there was some dust around the PCI connector between the WiFi module and main board. So, when the TV heats up, the connection cable heats a little bit and due to dust, it can't communicate with WiFi module properly and blah blah blah..... He just cleaned the connectors and voila! The problem is gone now. <For other readers> SOLUTION OF THE PROBLEM (AS observed by me) : Get a screwdriver, open all the screws found on back of TV, you will find a thin but a large cable going from the board (where HDMI and USB is there) AND bottom of the TV. Just unplug them, clean them by a thin cloth and put them back. Boom! It's solved! You know, if I knew this, I could have saved my 1180 INR ( around 18 USD )"
I followed the instructions from Gifted198, and it definitely solved the dropped INTERNET issues. Also Wifi is turned off. Just took 30 min to open the back, straighten out the wifi cables, and done. Don't bother with resetting or the 1105 code reco that somebody made.
My 43' lg tv was 10 mos. into it's 1 year warranty when it quit hooking up to wifi.In desperation I called lg and after going through the 1/2 hour try this try that routine, they sent a repair tech out the same day.Problem was corrected by replacing a small circuit board.
Good to hear from you Zagabog. I did not have time yesterday to write another point. That's becuz I decided to celebrate my accomplishments and watch something using wifi.
This problem has surfaced 6x now. The first time was 11 months of ownership-1.5 years ago. The funny thing is at least for me........I lose Bluetooth-the pointer, , then a day or two later the wifi is out. Same sequence everytime. I know about all the resets. They don't fix either issue. Done it 50x now I bet. Now I use a USB mouse for the pointer. Works great but should not have to do that.
Anyways, yesterday when the wifi came back on, well so did the Bluetooth for the remote. No pairing, no resetting, it all came back at the same time.
My point- when either go out, funny thing is, a day later whatever it all works, then goes out again. I would think this is NOT firmware or an update. Its some circuitry or plugs that have a bad connection. Its just so close to connecting and the same time not connecting.
It backs up what my tech repair guy thinks it is. My two cents worth. I'll be back if it goes out again. But all good for Day Two of the TV Hostage Situation.
@record12 Glad you found the module. It took me about 1.5 hours to perform the surgery -- and most of that time was me trying to figure out how to "unlatch" the back cover without breaking it after I had removed all the screws. If I ever need to do it again, I think I could easily do it in half the time. I did not have any kinked or pinched cables, and they were not the super thin "printed" variety shown in other pictures on this thread. Nor did I try the "Channel 1105" fix. I'm not keen on messing around in the service menu, so that would be a last resort for me.
You could be right about it being a connection problem, which is why re-seating the connectors fixes things, at least temporarily. (It's been a week now, and my bluetooth and wifi are still rock solid, knock on wood.) I'm not sure about the overheating theory, however. When my set started experiencing the issue, I disconnected it from my network and stopped using the wifi altogether, but reliability of the remote continued to get worse even with no "wifi load." It's as if the wireless strength gradually attenuates for some reason. Unplugging the TV overnight seemed to fix the problem once, but it didn't work again.
I went ahead and bought a replacement wireless module from eBay for $14 shipped, so I'll try swapping to the new module if the problem comes back. I took pictures and was very careful to purchase an identical module EXCEPT for one tiny difference: in one spot, the new module says "LGIT: TWCM-K305D V1.5," while the original module says V1.4. I've got this hope that V1.5 might correct the issue, but this is probably just wishful thinking.
Well I pushed on all the flat ribbon wire connectors, took off the wifi plastic cover and pushed on those plugs. Put it all back together and guess what? The wifi was immediately working and connected to my home wifi. Based on this I don't think its firmware. It could well be bad connections. When my wifi went out a month ago, it came back a few days later all on its own. Then went off again a week later. Its so touchy, so maybe its just the connectors. If I lose it soon, than maybe its that wifi module. It maybe heats up and goes out. Next time it goes out, I will unplug the tv for at least a few hours. That's how long it took for me to remove the cover , work on it, read this thread and put back together. No power to the wifi for 3 hours. It "cools" down, and that may get it to work again.

Their call centre no. is not helpful.
maximo78, if the unit is 3 to 4 months old, you can reach out to LG at https://www.facebook.com/LGUSSupport/ or https://twitter.com/LGUSSupport for assistance scheduling warranty service. Replacing the TV would be at the discretion of the dealer.
Tried reaching out to LG customer care but their is no response.
i think i made a mistake i buying an LG TV.
