Whilst a little off topic, I’d like to highlight that there is also an audio issue with Dolby bitstream passthrough via ARC or eARC on LG OLED sets. I imagine a lot of you would like to use the HDMI 2.1 ports on this set for VRR, ALLM, etc, so it is worth knowing that you will likely experience severe lag with Dolby content on external HDMI connected devices if you plan to use the ARC or eARC port, on top of the existing 2 channel LPCM restriction issue.

Well, seems I can forget about buying a LG tv this Black Friday as well. Been wanting to upgrade my Panasonic 2010 plasma sinds the UH850/950 (last 3D tv) and been willing to buy a C7 if it would've had e-ARC. I'm a console gamer and want to use VRR/e-ARC for the next-gen Xbox and also be able to output HD-audio to my 1.3a hdmi Onkyo receiver (with no-ARC) but with some kind of chinese hdmi-splitter box in a couple of years. Or maybe buy new a 2.1 e-ARC, either way the tv should have a working DD-THD/DTS-MSTR/5.1PCM output for its interal apps to pass an to receiver with no compression.
But if these 2 audio bugs aren't fixed before Thanksgiving, I'll wait another year, but not for an LG device. Panasonic will probably have 2.1 by then and the better motion as allways.
Im so lucky i found this forum! Was about to finally buy the c9 65” oled online, the main reason was to use the xbox one x and use VRR then pass the 7.1 audio to the receiver via the tv! I thought this tv was too good to be true 😩
I just got a answer from LG Germany (after contacting them once again). According to them "LG Electronics does not see any need to fix this issue". There might be a slight chance that LG changes their opinion in future. But there is no guarantee that this will happen.
Their answer in german (feel free to use a translator of your choice): Original: "Herzlichen Dank für Ihre Kontaktaufnahme mit LG Electronics Deutschland GmbH.

"Thank you very much for contacting LG Electronics Deutschland GmbH.
I have already received a request on this topic from June 2019. LG Electronics currently has no need for action. When and if this will change, we cannot currently evaluate.
If you have any further questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact us again at any time.
Yours sincerely"
So yea. I guess that is it. Maybe @JamalofLG has some different informations about this. But I do not think he has.
Should have returned mine when I had the chance. Hopefully LG reconsiders their position on this or LG Germany support are merely misinformed. It wouldn't hurt to start petitioning them in other outlets such as FB, Twitter, etc.
This affects a lot of use cases and should be relatively trivial for them to fix.
I do not know if contacting Hise, Golem (or any other media outlet) would help that much. We could try for sure. Maybe some here has contact to people like Vincent Teoh or any other TV reviewer..
@UdoG and @PapaMiraculi - I have already contacted John Archer of Forbes in May 2019 - it has contacted LG about this:
John Archer: "Hello! Just a quick note to say that I have passed your comments on to LG, and asked for them to give me a response. I'll keep you posted on what they say."
Is this discussion hidden for the general public in the forum? When I look in the "OLED TVs" section I would expect it to be near the top. Is LG maybe too embarassed to display it?
A friend of mine, who owns a 65" C9 also sent a request to LGs german customer support. That is the answer he got:

"Thank you very much for contacting LG Electronics Deutschland GmbH.
Thank you very much for your feedback. I have registered your complaint and forwarded it accordingly. At the moment it is not possible for me to say whether the codec will be delivered later or not. This lies within the decision area of product development. If changes take place, we will communicate this promptly.
If you have any further questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact us again at any time.
Yours sincerely"

tl; dr - The support agent forwarded it (but he did not mention to which department...) - He does not know if the development department will add this feature (of course he does not)
So yea. Make sure to contact LG via the support form. Copy a link to this thread and make sure to copy a link of the petition as well:
I got a similar answer from LG Support Switzerland:
"herzlichen Dank, dass Sie
mit LG Electronics Österreich/ Schweiz Kontakt aufgenommen haben. Wir haben Ihr Anliegen an die zuständige Produktentwicklungsabteilung
weitergeleitet. Sobald wir eine Rückmeldung erhalten, werden wir uns zeitnah mit Ihnen in Verbindung
setzen."
english: "Thank you for contact LG Support. We forward your request to the product development department and we will get back to you as soon as we get an answer from them."
I sent LG a support email yesterday asking about this problem with the links to this forum and the petition. This is the response I got form LG this morning.
----------------------------------
"We appreciate you for patiently coordinating with us regarding the PCM Multichannel 5.1/7.1 pass-through feature of your LG OLED65C9PUW TV, Michael. It is my pleasure to assist you with your inquiry today.
We thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. In response to this, please rest assured that LG Electronics is aware of your requests and is doing the necessary process to implement these features in the future software releases. Please be advised that the C9 OLED series are relatively new and only released recently, all the firmware updates will also be coming soon to integrate additional features that did not originally came in with the TV during the initial launch of the product. That being said, we would appreciate it if you consent to have your feedback be sent to our management team to make them aware of the demand and proper action can be done to address this."

I did agree to allow my message to be sent to the management team.

Please add PCM Multichannel 5.1/7.1 audio support to the C9 via eARC

Hopefully this gets a response.
I would also recommend to send a support ticket. Expecially if you have not done it.
I posted the petition link in AVForums.com and hifi-forum.de
Could someone please inform the people of AVSForum.com ?
Furthermore I posted also a comment on Facebook - LG Deutschland
Maybe someone can do the same on Facebook - LG US ?
Does it makes sense to contact some magazines (like c't / Heise in Germany) or other AV news internet sources?
@JamalofLG
Please help us to find a solution together!

His article about the petition to add an HDR Game Mode to 2016 OLEDs worked wonders.
John Archer: "Hello! Just a quick note to say that I have passed your comments on to LG, and asked for them to give me a response. I'll keep you posted on what they say."
but thats it, no news...
Not by the date of the most recent post. At least in the general categories.
If you look in „Best recent content“, „recent activity“ or „best off“ this thread pops up at the top.

Fun fact: That sounds pretty similar to the respond I got back in June:
"Herzlichen Dank, dass Sie mit LG Electronics Deutschland GmbH Kontakt aufgenommen haben.
Ich habe Ihre Anfrage an unsere technische Fachabteilung weitergeleitet.
Sobald mir eine Antwort vorliegt, werde ich mich bei Ihnen melden."
