Same issue here with recently purchased LG 65C9, Xbox one X and LG SL8yg sound bar.
Having restriction on either dolby atmos or VRR depending on HDMI connection config is ridiculous.
Just want to echo the praise for DJ_Glitch in regards to pushing LG all the way on this issue.
Have you had any new response from LG, DJ_Glitch?
Also the absence of any LG representative since Jamals post back on the first few pages in regards to this issue/thread is appalling.
I'm not quite sure
how, or when this officially happened, but completely by accident, we found all
of the sound sync issues on my C9 have all just disappeared!
Up to now, like most
people on here, I have been getting by with a crude makeshift combination of
plugging devices directly into the soundbar & using an optical cable for my
4k player. When we play a Blu-Ray/4k, I go into the C9 settings & change
the sound output to optical to negate the sound-sync delay. Over the weekend I
was watching Joker on a 4k disk, then half way through the film, the TV seemed
to take over & reset the audio connection back to ARC. The 'Dolby Vision'
icon appeared in the top right of the screen, the soundbar displayed the Dolby
Atmos message...... but then to my surprise, Joaquin Phoenix laughed completely
in sync with the film! (Creepy as hell by the way)
This was extremely
exciting, however I tried to keep my excitement in check as there have been
false positives before. So I then set about doing some re-wiring &
extensive testing. I wired all my devices back to the C9 including: Sky Q, LG
4k Blu-Ray Player, PS4 & Samsung Q70R soundbar via HDMI 2. AV sync was
turned off, HDMI Digital ARC is turned on, Digital Sound Out is set to
Passthrough & eARC is turned On.
In short, for over 3
days now ALL devices are playing with ZERO audio delay. Sky Q sound sync was
consistent whilst playing older non-HD content, as well as new movies &
their own UHD content. Same applied whilst playing Blu-Rays & 4K disks and
also whilst playing the PS4.
So on to the
question. How & when did this happen? Because my C9 is still runnning the
04.71.05 firmware. The same firmware that dropped a couple of months ago, which
at the time made no difference to the audio-sync issue whatsoever. I did notice
the Apple TV app has recently appeared in the app draw, however I doubt this
would signify a hidden update?
Don't get me wrong I
am over the moon this has fixed itself, but I'd like to understand HOW. So am I
alone here? Has anybody else experienced this fix?
When connected between your PC and the TV the Samsung HW-Q80R can passthrough the highest bandwidth signals, which means that text will look clear on your TV.”
@mfarben is the above what you meant by throughput?
