It works for a while, because after applying this settings, router wireless module is restarting (so you are not connected with your network via router, but simply over Wi-Fi Direct with TV. But your post helped me with finding solution :)
This won't help anyone...
I've found a solution/workaround.
It should work quite good now.
Key to success is not using home Wi-Fi network. I think SmartView/AirPlay works via/over Wi-Fi Direct. It is issue with LG firmware/software.
I got Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, LG C9 connected via ethernet cable, ASUS RT-AC1200G+ router.
Greetings from Poland ;)
It's an entire year later and I still have the same problem. Why isn't this fixed? My internet speed is fine as Airplay works perfectly with my Apple TV. I'm using a MacBook Air, not a mobile device.
Not a solution if y you're using an iMac...Glad to know it worked for you. I still have the same problem
Dude, the problem seems to be a huge issue from LG and nobody from LG is talking about that. Yesterday an LG technician came and replaced the WiFi board from my OLED55C9PLA and problem still the same.
Hi there Iskandar. What WebOS do you have? An LG Technician cae yesterday and changed the WiFi/Bluetooth board but problem still the same.
Not sure what changed. I haven't updated my WebOS, but all of the sudden AirPlay on my LG OLED55C9PLA works smooth as butter. I can mirror the displays of my Macs and iOS devices without any problems.
Beats me, but I'm glad it works now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Definitely LG software problem.
I have the problem with other apps and my UM7500 too. Extremely low bitrate and freezing when Airplaying videos from any app.
Same network, same devices, streaming through Chromecast is flawless.
Hi! I confirm that I am having this on my LG CX 48” TV. It is running the newest 3.00.70 firmware. The TV is connected to an AVR using HDMI ARC-CEC. Only Apple mirroring is having issues, all other content runs smoothly. But I get this clipping/choppy Audio and nothing helps. They are in the same Wi-Fi and I tried to disable Bluetooth but that did not help. I wonder what is the issue here. It does work fine with Apple TV 4K, but I thought I could remove Apple TV from the setup, but now I cant. The choppy Audio is terrible. Please fix this LG!
I have just solved the issue by connecting the TV to the same wifi network my mobile is connected to, and in my case it's an extension of my main router signal. Example, Router main signal "My wifi network", extension name "My wifi network EXT", connect bothe the TV and the Mobile to "My wifi network EXT". No more lagging, nor chopping for me. Before I had the TV connected to the main router, and the mobile to the extension. Hope it works for you, bye!
I am having the exact same issue when trying to Screen Mirror my iphone 11 pro. Very choppy even when close to the unit.
Possible solution is to turn off Bluetooth on the iPhone/iPad from the settings (not from Control Center). Worked for me.
TV: LG OLED C97LA
DEVICE: iPhone XS Max iOS 13.5
I update this thread to share results of some trials.
If I make a hd video (1080p), it streams well to Lg.
Making the same video in 4k and streaming to Lg result in a disaster.
Again, the problem is in lg software.
my C9 is from the German distribution and same happens to me. This drives me crazy! I hoped that friends that will come over will be quickly able to show me videos from their iPhones on my LG.
The video stutters as hell, LG please solve the issue!
I have the same issues. and I know this was working before (a few weeks ago) but basically, when I try to do screen mirroring on LG OLED c9, it just presents a black screen but the sound is still there.
Anyone have ideas?
I have the same issue. It works flawless with the Apple TV but it stutters a lot when I use it over the C9. That makes the AirPlay feature basically useless to me. A big negative point, which is said because the TV is otherwise perfect.
I wish I would have run across this forum before I wasted time purchasing a new 2020 - LG 50" Class - 7 Series 4K UHD TV Smart LED with HDR. I paid a premium for what I consider to be a top shelf brand which includes AirPlay, only to experience the same results that are being described here (grainy low quality video & choppy sound). I confirmed that Airplay works perfectly via a separate Apple TV box that I pulled from an older TV. I will be taking this TV back for a refund.
It's definitely an LG problem. I'm having the same issues with my tv where both video and audio playback are choppy.
I'm shocked this is still an issue, I saw a review of these TVs from 6 months ago and thought they would've resolved the quality issue by now and my TV arrived yesterday (updated to latest firmware). It definitely seems to be an issue with LG processing the video/audio because I have an Apple TV (box) so plugged it in to compare and it works flawlessly so that rules out WiFi issues (both connected very close to the router).
The video looks like it's badly compressed and the audio flickers. I hope they manage to fix it soon as I would love to use my TV without the need of external devices. I find all the other apps work fine, Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Video etc. so the only reason I would need to use my Apple TV box is due to LG's poor quality.
Fingers crossed for an update soon 🤞
Dear LG, it's not serious from such a company like you, keep on answering this way. It's clearly an issue lg firmware related.
The question is: are you going to do something or not.?
Any solution for this problem? I can't believe LG hasn't solve this yet. And yes, this is an LG problem, not an Apple problem. I'm starting to think that I should buy Sony! I can't believe that now I have to buy an Apple TV in order to reproduce my iMac videos in my brand new OLED C9.
