I’ve just checked the ‘Twitch Video Sync Test” On YouTube and it is showing about 120-150ms delay, but it’s the same delay as my iPhone recorded in slow mo using 2nd iPhone, and also if you use the iPhone YouTube app, you can reduce playback speed and the video is about 100ms out anyway...

WylieFox, appreciate your input but unfortunately this information is not related to the issue we're all experiencing. Bandwidth and number of supported lossless channels is irrelevant for the issue of passthrough/transcode lag (whether it be ARC or eARC). As you've already mentioned, you had lag on eARC before this update, but now it is fixed, which highlights that there is an underlying issue with the way LG are handling Dolby audio in their products. Further, others have reported in this thread already that eARC hasn't made a difference to the lag. They just need to prioritise the appropriate fix.

The firmware 04.80.03 fixed the lag issue for me but that is because I have an eARC compatible Denon X1600H AV Receiver passing the sound to my speakers. Your SL10YG soundbar is not eARC compatible. It uses the old regular ARC connection.

What you need is a soundbar that is eARC compatible or an AV Receiver which is eARC compatible.

ARC uses 1mbps of audio bandwidth and can only do 2 channel lossless audio or 5.1/7.1 compressed audio. eARC uses 37mbps of audio bandwidth and can do full 6 or 8 channel lossless audio.

Also note that i'm using Belkin 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 cables on all my devices. Older cables will not have the correct bandwidth for eARC.

Unfortunately LG screwed the pooch with their 2019 Soundbars and have stated that they have no plans to update them to be eARC compatible. Only their 2020 newest soundbars are eARC compatible.

when you say "Built in apps are not a problem", does it it mean the sync is spot on? Or do you notice a delay around 100 ms? Best way to check is using slow motion video capture by phoneand twitch sync video.

I’ve just updated my C9 to 04.80.03 (uk) and it has made no difference to my audio lag issues. Tried various options including all the ‘fixes’ from this discussion

Built in apps are not a problem as far as I can see but my issues are Xbox 1 X - C9 - LG SL10YG bar.

XB1X set to Bitstream, then set to DTS is fine. Set to Dolby Digital or Dolby Atmos has noticeable lag.

    @devoker

I'm waiting on it to release in my region (Australia). I've heard that the new firmware supposedly fixes the LPCM passthrough for eARC (enabling more than 2 channels), but I haven't heard that this fixes the Dolby passthrough issue yet. I will report back as soon as I've been able to test it and confirm.

It'd be great to know whether anybody here has been able to test the new LG 2020 soundbar range with eARC and could confirm whether this issue has been fixed in their new range.

A new firmware has been released for Korea (and works for US also). Anyone tried to see if it solves this issue?

@kaiserkiwi Yes it's still the case with my new soundbar . I previously returned a Q80 to the store because of the lip sync issue. But when I read of the firmware update I decided to buy one again. I was impressed with the sound of the first Q80 so thought I'd give it another try. The only time I've noticed a lip sync issue is with a few music videos on YouTube. However if I turn off the soundbar and listen through my tv speakers there's still a noticeable Lip sync issue. Maybe I just got lucky with the new one but I'm satisfied with my setup now

Another person experiencing this issue, C8, so no chance of fixing with eARC. Would love to see a fix for this as it makes external sound bars pretty much useless.

One year has now passed, and I still have the same issue with audio delay over eARC on my OLED 65C9!

I use the C9:ns embedded DVB-T2 reciever for watching live TV, and output the sound over eARC to an Sony STR-DN1080. The audio lag is clearly noticable although I havn't quantified it. The same goes for the C9 internal apps such as Netflix. Same kind of audio delay.

I have experimented with all settings regarding HDMI lip sync, manual sync etc (without going into any "hidden menus") on both the TV and the reciever, and updated the firmware on both reciever and the C9 to latest (04.71.25).

Is there any confirmation from LG side that this is an issue and what is being done to fix it? Please at least give us the possibility to delay the image in comparison to the audio (negative audio delay) that already exists on other LG TV:s.

    Best Regards

@skipperab Is this still the case after a few days? I ordered the HW-Q70R and it should get to me tomorrow.

Will get back later after I tested it for a few days. Would be funny, if Samsung fixes an issue with a firmware update that LG can't fix…

I own an LG C9 Oled and a Samsung HWQ80R soundbar. After a recent firmware update to my soundbar (1010.5) I no longer have any lip sync issues. My soundbar display now indicates eArc. Dolby Atmos is displayed when I stream an Atmos film from the Netflix app or Dolby app

    Hello,

I join the complaints about this problem. I just bought a 55 C9 and use a SJ9 Soundbar. Tv and Soundbar with the latest installed Firmware. I connect my PC to HDMI 1 on the TV and the Soundbar to HDMI 2 (ARC). And in all games that use Dolby Atmos there is an annoying Delay that compromises gameplay. Unfortunately the TV options only allow the audio to be delayed even more, they do not allow me to go in the opposite direction. Such a serious problem and LG does not seem to care about consumers. I'm disappointed.

I have an Xbox One X and the LG C9 (2019) on the latest firmware and the sound bar also and same. The audio delay for gaming is annoying for voices and I’ve done everything there is to do and it won’t get permanently fixed.

I use Dolby Atmos and Dolby and same. I’m switching to the optical cause I won’t give up 2.1 and VRR for Dolby Atmos.

Also I saw on another forum that a patch is supposedly coming out FY20Q2 to resolve this. Not sure how accurate that is, but if true that means there will be a patch by the end of June. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Hello all, I found another simple solution that seems to help if not completely resolve the audio delay. When you notice audio delay just switch from the hdmi input you are on to another one then switch back. That seems to sync everything up. Let me know if this works for you.

I always notice a lag when I first start up my Xbox. After switching inputs, using the input button between the Netflix and Prime buttons, then switching back to my Xbox input, the lag is greatly reduced if not gone entirely. Currently playing shadow of the tomb raider and this solution is definitely working for me. Lip sync looks perfect

Yes it completely resolved the issue even with built in apps like YouTube and Hulu. The Onkyo receiver has AV sync adjustments, and I set it to -10ms although I was getting -100 to -200ms delays on the TV.. the -10 setting fixed it. My Yamaha receiver and also the Sony I tried could not fix the issue, but Onkyo resolved it for me.

I have had the same audio to video problem with my new LG TV as a lot of people. It happened about a week ago. And then appeared to automatically fix itself the next day. Today it happened again. I Goggled it and went through this “balance” adjustment that I read about. Over and over until I wanted to scream. Then I found a post where someone wrote that you could press the Home button. Then, if it’s on HDMI or whatever, press on the HDMI2 and some of the others and then go back to HDMI1 and it will resync. Well it actually worked! Just like magic, the audio and video matched perfectly! I am so excited that I now know this and I hope it will help you.

Has the receiver receiver also solved internal app lip sync issues? Or Only for external hdmi devices?

Hey guys, I just bought a 77" C9 and found this thread after banging my head on the wall trying to figure out why the YouTube app (and some other built-in WebOS apps) had a sound delay when outputting audio through the HDMI ARC port.

Tried everything mentioned here, literally.. everything and could not fix the delay.

For reference, I was using a Yamaha TSR-7810 receiver which has been great with everything except my new C9.

I ended up buying a new Sony Receiver (forgot the model) that has eARC thinking it would work or fix the issue. Nope, same deal and I returned it to Best Buy.

I ended up buying an ONKYO TX-NR696 and after basic configuration, the sound sync issue is GONE. It doesnt even have eARC, but it has some "Auto lip sync" feature that for whatever reason, syncs the sound correctly vs the Yamaha receiver I had and the Sony eARC receiver I tried.

If you're frustrated with this TV like I was, give this receiver a shot.. unfortunately, this may not be a fix for everyone but it does show that whatever the TV is outputting has to be handled in some sort of "special" way I guess LOL. Damn thing cost me $600 for a new receiver... but at least it has SONOS compatibility that made me feel better about spending more money to fix the sound sync issue.

I'll also add I am using the Expert-Bright Room mode for the picture, and have ALL video processing disabled.

I also have Tru-Motion (USER) enabled, but De-Judder is 0 and De-Blur is 7 which seems to help.

As for the AV sync feature, this is completely disabled as if I enable it and touch any settings it delays the sound. I recommend do not touch that setting, it's completely worthless.

Like LG's tech support who had no clue about this problem.

Well, it seemed like it had been resolved for me and I watched an entire movie with Atmos from my Apple TV with no perceptible delay.

    But no more.

I have emailed videos of the issue to LG support who have promptly not gotten back to me.

I have a C9 and SL8Y and only use internal apps. Everything has audio delay ranging 100-300 ms depending on the app and audio codec. The worst is the youtube with pcm audio (soundbar showing pcm) around 300 ms. Tried every possible setting and nothing solves. I thought the bypass option in AV sync menu should send the audio directly and audio should come before video but it doesn't work. I believe the problem is webos handling codecs not correctly, just a speculation though.

Also when I use internal speakers audio lag decrease but it is still there. Either give us a negative av correction or fix this please. LG OLED was supposed to be the best TV (it is when you consider the picture quality) but it sucks at handling audio.

    Evening all

Not a smart person when it comes to all this talk of different formats etc but just picked up an LG CX 65 inch 2020.

Sound was lagging through Denon HEOS soundbar from the first time of connection.

Netflix, YouTube apps on tv were all lagging when going through sound bar but fine when played through internal speakers.

HDMI from arc port on tv to arc on sound bar. PS4 direct to sound bar.

Connected Ethernet cable from mesh node , 100/40 to sound bar, everything is playing perfectly on all apps and console, no lag anywhere and ps4 all in sync

Have not played with many settings as picture is spot on, tv is connected on wifi and everything is doing what I think it should. Arc e is switched off in tv menu.

Am I missing out on much?

And for the record, this tv kicks ass
