How to Clean your Smartphone
-
Once Every 12 Minutes
Cleaning your smartphone – while always recommended – is now more important than ever. It’s estimated that we touch our phone every 12 minutes, so our hygiene needs to extend to the device we use most.
-
Do not submerge phone under water.
Although many smartphones have an IP68 rating, it is strongly recommended you DO NOT submerge your phone under running water, and instead use a disinfectant that contains 70% isopropyl alcohol.
-
70% Isopropyl Alcohol.
Wipes with 70% isopropyl alcohol are ideal but you can also apply the alcohol onto a clean lint-free cloth before cleaning the phone. This minimizes the risk of the cleaning agent leaving a residue in any openings like the charging or audio port. Any residue could lead to electrical short and potentially damage the device. The use of ethanol swabs is also an effective alternative. Be sure to test a small area of the phone before fully cleaning its entire surface.
It is recommended that you avoid using alcohol in concentrations greater than 70%, disinfectants in aerosol sprays, ammonia, compressed air, bleach, and hydrogen peroxide.

Good to know that I've been doing it right from the beginning. I've been taught not to spray the alcohol directly on the phone (or any electronic device for that matter) though.
I usually do 2 things to clean my phone:
1- spray the screen with Windex and wipe it down.
2- wipe it down with alcohol wipes..
It is important that people not only clean the screen but the back of the phone as well. Both sides must be cleaned to ensure that the germs/bacteria are removed. Pay special attention to the earpiece section and make sure to wipe that very well. Every once in a while use a q-tip to really get in the small places with alcohol.
Thanks

1. I have been taking a my simi damp towel after my morning showers to wipe down my screen front and back once a day to keep it fresh.
2. About once every six months i will need to carefully use a needle to clean out the USB charging / data port.
I need help connecting an HP monitor to my LG laptop as a second monitor through my HDMI port.
It cannot auto-detect the monitor even after unplugging and re-plugging the monitor's cable.
Why .... what is the issue here and how do I resolve?
Useful article, thanks
Thankyou. I need to take care of my phone from water
Washing your hands before cleaning the phone is a recommended step. Once your hands are clean then cleaning your phone can commence.
Very useful information! But I'm still afraid to clean my smartphone with a disinfectant. I don't know why.
