Hello,

I have a Macbook Pro 15,1, 15: mid 2019 8 cores, i9 CPU, 16GB RAM and it has a Radeon Pro 560X graphics card.

I can't make it recognize the full resolution of this monitor using the cable provided by LG, a Thunderbolt cable.

I'm using MacOS Big Sur Version 11.0.1

On the Graphics options I can only go as far as: 3840x1620 using HiDPI

This monitor says it can do  5120x2160 HiDPI... or is it a fraud?

    Hi,

I think it's normal that 5120x2160 isn't HiDPI, because this is the native full resolution. Lower resolution than 5120x2160 use HiDPI to adapte the resolution with this High density screen and keep everything is more detailed.

Did you encounter problem with DP 1.4 on your MacBook Pro 15''?

I have a problem with Display Port 1.4 on the MacBook Pro 16''.

With the MacBook Pro 15'' (2016) the LG 34BK95U-W work great on DP 1.4 at full resolution.

With the MacBook Pro 16'' I can use this screen only with DP 1.2, and no HDR option and no support of HDCP 2.2.

I tried also with bootcamp, and same problem in DP 1.4.

My bad, it's not HiDPI.... I guess LG's marketing fooled us again...

It looks like that if you use a 8K DisplayPort to USB-C cable and set your display to DP 1.2, it will show 5120x2160 with HDR option on a Macbook pro 15" mid-2019. I can't tell if it is using HiDPI, and you will probable have to resize all text to 125-150% unless you want to go blind...

Another issue that I detected, I can’t use HDR with DP 1.2 (that is required to get 5120x2160).

If I choose DP 1.4 I get like 3480x1440 max resolution and HDR works.....

    What is going on LG?

I downloaded this software and it allows me to go on 5120x2160, but does not offer the HiDPI option, which makes EXTREMELY difficult to read anything on the screen.

I think this Monitor is a fraud, unless LG can help with the proper configuration to allow it to run 5120x2160 using HiDPI
