34GK950F-B DisplayPort wake issue
As many other users, with the same model and other LG monitors I experience the same wake issue on my monitor when connected through DisplayPort.
When the monitor wakes it is locked to 1280x800 resolution instead of the native 3440x1440. The temporary workaround is to turn the monitor off and to turn it back on. However, all the open programs will have their window positions reset.
I tested it with multiple DisplayPort cables, with different graphic cards, different GPU driver versions, the issue persists. If connected through HDMI the issue is not present, however 85Hz refresh rate is the maximum available.
Is LG going to do something about it, or should I return the monitor, as it is still under warranty and go with another brand?

Hey LG How about an answer regarding this issue. Even a we are looking into it would be better than complete silence.

I wouldn't count on them doing anything considering people have complained about the lack of basic features for months with no firmware updates to fix the issues (DP Sleep bug on GN950 has been an issue since October and they haven't done anything for it).
I can't find much info about Dell or Asus monitors having this many displayport issues, maybe they deserve your money more.
I have a 34GK950F-B also and have the exact issue as the original poster and have done the same troubleshooting without success either, so this is certainly not an isolated issue.
Oh, also, look into the PersistentWindows Applet that saves the position of your windows so you just have to click an icon once to reset your windows back to where they were. It won't help with the resolution changing though.
Since I purchased the monitor in Austria, I contacted LG support in Austria, but they must be part of LG Germany since I received the following reply:
"Thank you for contacting LG Electronics Deutschland GmbH.
Thank you for your feedback.
If the monitor displays the correct resolution via the display port after a restart and no longer does so after standby, this is due to the fact that Windows saves a virtual resolution before it puts the PC into sleep mode and uses this to wake Windows from sleep mode.
This is not due to the monitor but to the way Windows handles the display port of the graphics card.
The behaviour is manufacturer-independent and is due to Windows itself.
We recommend operation via the HDMI.
Yours sincerely,
XXX
LG Electronics Germany GmbH"
Why is LG advertising the monitor as 144Hz capable then? I think this was indeed my last LG product purchased.
Also, the PC doesn't go into sleep or standby, just the monitor turns off. LG's support either doesn't read the customer's feedback thoroughly or they are aware of the issue but want to keep it quiet.
It's incredible that they tell you that it is Window's fault for the issue when there are thousands of monitors in the market that don't have the issue.
I'm returning mine and waiting for the HDMI 2.1 monitors to arrive in the next few months. The 27GP950 won't have the deep sleep issue but I'm unsure if I want to continue to support LG after seeing this prominent issue be ignored for so long (look at Amazon's reviews of the monitor, over 10% mention the deep sleep issues).
